Reginald Smith – Pastor

Dr. Reginald Smith was born and raised in Chicago. In 1992, Pastor Reggie received his Master of Divinity degree from Calvin Theological Seminary and was ordained in 1993 as co-pastor at Northside Chapel Community Christian Reformed Church in Paterson, New Jersey. Since 1994, he has been senior pastor at Roosevelt Park Community Christian Reformed Church, a multiracial ministry in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He received his Doctor of Ministry degree from Western Theological Seminary in 2004. Dr. Smith enjoys life and ministry with his wife Sharon and their three daughters Janelle, Katrina, and Mariah.

Pablo Canche’ – Associate Pastor

Rev.  Pablo Canche’ was born in Mexico, where he studied Community Development and also obtained a Bachelor Of Theology. Then, he served with the Presbyterian Church, and the Mexican government for 4 years as Community Development director. While being as a student at Reformed Bible College, he served at the Hispanic CRC in Holland, MI. and married Sheryl. After obtaining his bachelor in Religious Education, they went to Central America as missionaries with the Christian Reformed World Missions for 18 years in church planting, leadership training, and theological education. Two of their children were born in Honduras, and one in El Salvador. He earned a Master degree from Western Theological Seminary, and was Ethnic Ministries Coordinator in Classis Holland before coming to as Associate Pastor at Roosevelt Park Church.

William Huyser – Visitation Pastor

Pastor Bill Huyser was born and raised in the farming community of Pella, Iowa. Following graduation from high school, he worked for a time on the farm. He served in the United States Army for two years including a stint in Japan. On June 3, 1949, he married Alvina Sjaardema. They have 5 sons, 9 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. He studied at Calvin College and Calvin Seminary, graduating from seminary in 1950. In 1979, he received his Master of Theology degree from Calvin Seminary. He served churches in Michigan, Wisconsin, and Illinois. He became visitation pastor at Roosevelt Park Church in 1996.

Passions: Reading, gardening, golf, and traveling

Alta Van Doeselaar- Church Administrator

Alta VanDoeselaar serves as the Church Administor.  Her duties include the creation and implementation of procedures which support the Mission, Vision, and Values.  She manages and sets policy for our volunteers and paid staff, manages the property and oversees the finances of the church.

Heather Rosema- Church Secretary

Heather serves as church secretary. She loves living and working in the Roosevelt Park Neighborhood, as well as serving on the boards of the Neighborhood Association, Business Association, and LINC.  This gives her the opportunity to work with a diverse group of people, practice her Spanish speaking skills, and help organize exciting ministries and community events.  Most importantly, it gives her a bird’s eye view of the transforming power of Christ at work in people’s lives (including her own).   Heather fills her time with work, friends, volunteering, and getting to know her neighbors and neighborhood.

Tisha Berkenpas- Schools of Hope Coordinator

Tisha coordinates the Schools of Hope literacy ministry. She is also very involved in many of our family and teen ministries. Tisha is married and loves doing ministry in the Roosevelt Park Neighborhood. She has a degree in Social Work and advocates for justice. Tisha loves to read and hang out with friends.
